Our little adventures

Alan took the boys and went camping with his best friend Mike & his 2 kids over the weekend. They had a blast! I can't wait to go camping too. Alan is taking a week off in June and we are going to go spend 3-4 days camping. Woo hoo!

Starla & I went and had lunch with Roman at school on monday. Yesterday Alan & I got to have a lunch date, and today I am going to have lunch with Bourbon. I got a lunch date with all 3 of my guys this week! :)

Starla loves to help cook. And all 3 kids love banana bread, so we try to make it often. Starla will eat it every morning for breakfast.......

the best part of baking.....

Since Roman is in love with is glasses, and can only use them to read, he's been doing ALOT of reading lately, which cracks me up. Whatever works. :)

on any given day this is pretty much what you will find Bourbon doing; listening to his MP3 player and reading a book. :)

It's been a sock monkey making week. I have so many people that want one, that I decided to make a ton and sell some! Starla has named them all, carries them around the house. Sometimes she is thier mommy, sometimes their teacher, lol. I keep trying to make sure she knows that they aren't hers, they will go to someone else when I am all done, she says she knows....we shall see

Our week

It was time for Bourbon to get his yearly eye exam, and Roman has been dying to get glasses for the last couple of years and insists he can't see very well. So I made him an appointment, but I told the lady too that he really wanted glasses, so he might try to trick her, lol. She said he has 20/20 vision, but since he is a big reader, and he really wanted glasses, that she would be willing to prescribe him very mild reading glasses as long as he only uses them to read. She said they won't harm him in the least, and that many studies show that even kids with perfect eyesight can benefit from light reading glasses if they read a lot, and it may even prevent them from having glasses in the future. So he got a pair. I told him if I caught him wearing them for anything other than reading, they would be gone though.....

Bourbon picked out some sturdier thick plastic ones this time, maybe they won't break as easy!

I got to go to something called Beer University on Tinker AFB tuesday night with some girls. It was a Belgium beer tour, to learn how they are made and to get to taste them. No I didn't drink all of these by myself, lol, these are just the ones we got to taste!

We went to the OKC arts festival and took a stroll through the crystal bridge while we were there on Wed.

Starla's open house was tonight at her school, they sang a couple of songs....

Starla's favorite little guy from school, Jaxson! :)

Now Starla gets to go stay the weekend with Nana in duncan, and the 3 boys are going on a cmaping trip, which means momma gets to stay home alone! :) Woo hoo! I have tons of stuff to keep me busy though, lol.

lack of blogging motivation....

I don't know why I can't seem to get in the blogging spirit, but I just haven't had much of a desire to sit down and blog. Maybe it will come back to me soon....

Until then, here are some pics and brief updates!

I made Starla & her baby a matching dress!

That's my boy, black fingernails and queen of hearts fingerless gloves. :) I love that he is quirky and unique.

getting so big...

Hanging out with the chickens and the goats on the farm

No pics of Bourbon, he seems to evade the camera most times.....

I worked at Starla's school again this week, and will be working there next week too. They are losing 3 teachers next semester, so I am thinking of taking a job there so we don't have to pay for full time daycare, until Starla is in school and then I can get a full time teaching gig. I don't know yet though.....

Been working on my novel, and trying to get motivated to get it done. I really want to get it finished!!

Alan is working hard as always, and everyone is well!

Look what I made!

Jamie bought me my sewing machine 2 years ago (just about) for my 30th b-day, and at that time I had grand dreams of sewing all kinds of clothes and things, and went out and bought a ton of patterns and material. Well, like most of my dreams of things, it just never happened, lol. So this week I decided I really want both Starla & I to have lots of summer dresses. I particularly want lots of long, hippie/gypsy type summer dresses. So I put those patterns and materials to good use this week and made me a dress:

Yeah! I want to make lots more, but we shall see. I HATE cutting out the material, I'm not good at it, even with a pattern I can't cut a straight line to save my life, lol. But hopefully I will get Starla a dress done soon, and then I can make me another one! :)

dandelions and baby dolls

Our next door neighbor's lawn is one big dandelion patch, which is Starla's idea of a perfect lawn, lol. We can't keep her out of it!

blow daddy blow!

dancing barefoot in the dandelions...

Santa brought Sissy to Starla Christmas of 08', and she looks like she has been loved on every day since then, lol. Starla named her Sissy. The poor doll's hair is just crazy, she lost her pants a few weeks ago when Starla decided she needed to wear diapers, which she's not wearing any longer, lol. I think Sissy may need to dissappear someday while Starla is away at school or something, and replaced with a prettier doll, lol.

just laying around....

Starla loves Sissy....

I'm not sure which one looks scarier.....

twirling with my baby.....

Who, me?

Our weekend.....

Saturday was date day with Bourbon, first it was lunch at Irma's burger shack....

Jamie & Simone joined us at the show!

Today was such a pretty day we did some gardening....

Starla discovered how much fun worms are...

She's just too cute....

We just got back from my neice (ok, Bourbon's cousin, but I call her my neice!) Brittany's baby shower. I made this cake with a different flavor cake and filling for each layer.

Bourbon with his cousins, "The guys" (he called them that when he was little, and it sorta stuck!) and his little sisters Autumn & Lily.

Our life

I've been slacking on my blogging lately, so you get a long post of pics and updates! :)

I've been subbing at Starla's school quite a bit lately. Yesterday I worked in the 2 year old room, and then had 3 different teachers call me that evening for me to work for them today, but I had to decline because I had a job fair. :)

With all the dandelions and other weedy flowers popping up, Starla picks me about a dozen every day!

We have been trying to soak up as much sunshine as we can on a daily basis. We make trips to the park, play outside and just hang out!

Today was my 2nd job fair. It was the Mid-Del job fair today. It went well, I gave my resume and shook hands and talked to all the principals of the elementary schools. But of course they all say the same things right now, they will keep our resumes on file, but at the moment they can't hire anyone until they get a budget increase, etc. Some other girls from UCO went to the Edmond and the OKC job fairs, and they said it was so much worse. The principals wouldn't even take resumes, they just shook hands, said they aren't hiring right now, but thanks for coming out. I think it is so silly that every district is required to have a job fair, even when they aren't hiring. The teacher job market right now is very scarce, so we shall see what the future holds!

My punk rock princess!

April showers bring May flowers!!! The kids love to play in the rain.

Roman was so excited to catch the first toad of the season. :)

I took Starla to "our" farm in Norman last friday to visit the baby goats! She loved them! She wasn't too sure about the chickens though, she was a bit scared of them! So far we have gotten 3 dozen fressh eggs, and 3 potted plants that will bloom lots of pretty flowers for me this summer! This friday starts the first of the produce, with a variety of lettuces! We are sooo excited about having fresh, organic produce from a local farm!

I LOVE my spring flowers!!!

playing frisbee

we love sidewalk chalk!

Bubbles!

We took a family walk to a little park nearby yesterday after dinner, and Bourbon fell off of the monkey bars and landed on the ladder below (the top ladder bar hit him across the belly, he kinda folded over it), which knocked the breath out of him. I was pushing Starla on the swing, so I didn't see any of it happen, or even hear it although he was right behind me. Bourbon came staggering over to me, clutching and pointing to his stomach, his face bright red, his eyes bugging out and not being able to breath for a minute. It was pretty crazy! I couldn't figure out what was wrong with him! He staggered over to me and collapsed right in front of me and couldn't talk for a little bit, we had no idea what even happened until he could catch his breath and actually talk to us!! I of course freaked out a bit because that's what momma's do. :) All I knew was that he was turning purple, couldn't breathe and collapsed clutching his stomach! But he was ok. It took him a while to get his breathing to normal, and his voice was all weird for a couple of hours. My mom came over and examined him and listened to his lungs, and we iced him up and then put a heating pad on him. He just knocked the breath out of his lungs and probably bruised them up pretty good. He was still a bit sore today and has a bruise where the bar got him, but all in all, he's fine.

And that's our life!
