The good ol' summertime!

We've been enjoying our first full week of summer vacation. We have a zoo pass, and omniplex pass, a pool pass, and a bowling pass for this summer! So we are set! We've been keeping busy!

Yesterday we met some of our friends at the bowling alley. There are tons of bowling alleys across the nation that are participating in a free summer program called kidsbowlfree.com where kids ages 15 and under can sign up to get 2 free games per day all summer long, you just have to rent the shoes. And you can add upt o 4 adults on it for only $25 to aslo get 2 games per day. So we plan on going at least once a week!

This was Starla's first time to bowl! She loved it.

Roman gave Starla a hug and a high five after just about every ball

So Starla wanted a high five after each ball... :)

After we bowled our 2 games we went to the park for a picnic.

Roman found a good place at the park to eat his sandwich!

Today we went to the zoo and had a picnic.

Bourbon enjoys his sandwich!

He had sunscreen in his eye..... :)

Snowcones!!

Yum, cotton candy!

The dinosaurs unearthed exhibit, Bourbon stayed outside with Starla while I took Roman in. She wasn't having any part of it. :)

Alan had his first gig in about a year this week with his band and they have booked 2 more gigs for this summer, so he is excited.

I started a new diet thing where these drops tell my brain to use my stored fat as a food supply and then I only eat 500 calories a day, which is INCREDIBLE hard!! So I've been a bit cranky, lol. But in 2 days I have lost 4 lbs. so we will see.....

The Big Picture Project

Aunt Theresa located this project and asked Bourbon's teacher if she wanted to do it, and she said yes. They got picked (because they volunteered) to be the Oklahoma 4th grade class to participate in this project. A class from each of the 50 states got to participate, and create several pegboards from beads that will be used to create a 9ft by 11 1/2 ft picture of Obama with the flag in the background. The "Big Picture" will be made up of 414 pegboard pieces, which will be a new world record. Each state gets to make 8 or 9 boards. Each pegboard is made up on 900 beads. The kids were put into groups and assigned a pegboard, which had a "map" of what colored beads to put where. They had to go find the right color bead and then put them on the board. It was alot of work, but they had such a great time! The picture is going to be given to Obama at the 4th of July Celebration in Washington D.C. Each class got to choose one representative from the class (the teacher) to be nominated to give it to Obama. Only 2 will get chosen out of the 50 nominated. Bourbon was nominated by his teacher for his love of Obama and his interest in politics, as well as his penchant for debate. :) He thinks for sure he is going to get picked to go to washington. I keep telling him he might not get picked, but he just doens't believe it. :)

Our class got pegboards located in the upper lefthand corner of the "big picture", which is part of the flag and part of Obama's hair. They were very excited to locate it and work on it, and all of them said they will be watching the 4th of July celebration and tell everyone they know that they helped!

Alan & I are working on putting together press releases for the local papers and news stations about it as well. The kids are very excited to think that they might be in the newspaper.

Bourbon shows off what "The Big Picture" will look like when it is finished.

a work in progress...

Boogie down

Here is Starla and Bourbon's friend Winston breaking it down at the Frog Picnic at school last week. Winston is soo good!! Lol.

This & That

Roman is such a cutie.

I love this outfit! It's not very practical, she can't sit down in it on the floor and play much since it doesn't have much give room in that skirt! But it's cute!!

My baby girl

Last thursday was the Frog Picnic at school. The Frog Log is where they keep track of how many books the kids read during the school year, and then they have a picnic at the end of the year. We had to have it inside this year because of the weather, so they had a DJ and there was lots of dancing going on, it was a blast. The boys made a train and went around the room, and they did the robot and some break dancing!! Starla boogies down too. Starla & I did the cha-cha slide, and Alan took pics of that too, but I'm not sharing those, lol.

Yum, hotdogs! :)

Bourbon and his buddies at the picnic

Roman is so handsome. :)

Friday was Super Kids Day at the boys school, which is basically a day of fun and games for the entire school. It's a blast.

As a 4th grader this year, Bourbon got to work Super Kids day, which he was Super excited about (sorry for the pun....) :) He ran the scooter races, and had a blast.

Roman and his girlfriend (since last year I might add, this is serious stuff, lol) Echo.

The Tangle Fairies

This is such a cute book, and has come in very handy....

It's a story about how 'tangle fairies' play in your hair at night and have lots of fun and end up making a bed and sleeping there when you are about to wake up in the morning, and that's why you wake up with tangles in your hair!

Starla loudly protests when I brush her hair in the morning, but now when she starts, I just tell her we have to get all the tangle fairies out! So together we tell those tangle fairies to wake up and get out of Starla's hair, as I am brushing them out and fixing Starla's hair. And when Starla gets mad because of the tangles, I now have something to blame it on instead of mean ol' momma trying to brush her hair.... Hee hee

Starla loves books..... can't imagine where she gets that from.... :)

All the Tangle Fairies are gone!

Bourbon's field trip

Last monday I got to go on Bourbon's field trip with him. First we went to the State Captiol.

This was the group that I was in charge of, on the steps. We had lots of fun.

Our state seal

The dome, how beautiful.

The House was going to be in session that afternoon, but it wasn't while we were there.

The house of representatives.....

so pretty...

Next we went across the street to the Oklahoma History Museum. like most museums, they have a rotating temporary exhibit in addition to their permanent stuff. The current one is "One Hot Oklahoma Night; a collection of rock and roll" which was fun and interesting!!

Lots of memoriabilia from different artists...

They had all different fashions of rock music...... hee hee

wow, look at this double handled guitar, very cool!

Bourbon breaks it down....

They had these 4 really cool chairs that looked like guitars, and when you sat on them it activated the music that would play into the earphones, each seat had a different genre of music. It was neat.

Here's Bourbon chilling out in the groovy 60's room....

The hairstyles of the decades cracked me up.

Could you imagine having this as your mode of transportation?

They have such cool stuff in the museum.

Bourbon makes a good cowgirl, lol
