Starla's first day of "school"

Last night was 'Meet your teacher" night for Starla's mother's day out program. She has 2 teachers; Miss Laura and Miss Robin. She was soo excited, and just had a blast checking out everything inside the classroom!

This is Miss Laura.

She didn't want to leave, she kept telling me "Just leave me here momma". Lol. I told her she would get to stay the next day.

Today was the first day! I was at school, but Nanny was nice enough to take lots of great pics for me!

Walking up to her class, her room is on the 2nd floor

This is her other teacher Miss Robin, whom she keeps referring to as Aunt Robin, because she does have an Aunt Robin on Alan's side of the family!

Nanny said she had a fun say and got good remarks from the teachers. Woo hoo!

Our life

Starla is always putting things in some kind of order, even if its an order she only understands! This time she put all of her carebears in order, from small, medium and large. Hee hee. She told me "I have 32 carebears momma!" before she pulled me into her room to show me this. I am super duper excited for her to start her mother's day out class next week!!

The boys, especially Roman, has been into learning how to play chess lately. For himn it is because of Harry Potter, they play wizard chess. :) I have started reading all of the books to the boys at night, we are just about to be done with the 2nd one. The last time I tried to read it to them, they just weren't into it, but then again this was YEARS ago. I should have known they would like it now! We used to read 30 mins before bed each night, but now they are so into it and excited, they don't want me to stop! We have extended their bedtime this year by 30 mins and we now read for an hour. I love how into it they are. :) Roman asked if we could have another Harry Potter birthday party! Lol, Um...no.

This is my student teaching classroom and mentor teacher. I am in the 4th grade there!

For the first 3 weeks I go to my 4th grade class from 8am-11am and then get a little lunch break and report at UCO at 1pm until 4pm for a class. After the 3 weeks I will be in the 4th grade classroom for the entire school day. In Oct. I get to take over her class completely for 2 weeks and teach all day every day during those 2 weeks. So that is exciting! I am staying very busy, since my UCO class has homework every single night!! In fact, last week I had to leave my UCO class early due to complications from my surgery, I had to go to the Dr's office to get it taken care of. They said it happened because I am "doing too much" and I need to take it easy for a while. Yeah right, with 3 kids, student teaching, and class at UCO, there is no taking it easy!!!

This weekend The Disney company had a free Christmas Carol Train tour to promote the new Christmas Carol movie they have coming out in Nov. They had a train with like 6 cars, which had been transformed into this moving museum of movie artifacts and showed how the movie was made, etc. They had fake snow, carolers, and a very christmas atmosphere! They even had this giant inflatable tent "theater" where we got to see a 3D preview of the movie. We waited in line for 1 hour and 20 mins before we even got into the train!! But the kids had a blast. Even Starla was fine with it, there was so much going on around us during the wait!

Life is super busy right now, but we will eventually get into the routines!!

Your opinion please.....

So I am going to enter into this online birthday cake contest, but I can't quite decide which cake to use to enter! I've narrowed it down to these 4, but thought I'd see what everyone else thinks! Which one do you like best?

Back to school

My little rock star :)

Wednesday is Nanny's birthday, so Sunday we went with her & Papa, and Aunt Theresa & Nic-Nic to bricktown to celebrate. We had lunch at Toby Keiths, and then went for a ride on the canal. It was lots of fun!

I stocked up on new crayons with all the back to school sales, and Starla broke into 2 of the packs and dumped them all out, and then started sorting them before I caught her!

I started school on monday, and went from 8a-5pm yesterday & today and go from 9a-12:30pm tomorrow, and then I report at my student teaching position on monday! I am so excited!!

Tonight was meet your teacher night at Traub, so we went up there after I got home from school. They start school on thursday!

This is Roman's new 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Olliver. He took the ACE (gifted) test at the end of the year last year and they told us today that he passed it with one of the highest scores, so he is excited to be joining Bourbon in the ACE program. Bourbon got a 98% on the test (you have to have 95% to get in) so I am curious to find out what Roman got when we get his actual scores back!

This is Bourbon's new 5th grade teacher, Ms. Kilmer. She was also his flag football coach last year, so he already knows her well!

In my classes today, we had 2 lawyers come in and talk to us all about what we need to do to make sure we never lose a lawsuit. They say getting sued is inevitable, but losing is preventable! Anyways, they both, among others, said to make sure all online profiles are private and that you keep yourself protected from parents and students finding stuff of yours online. So with that in mind, sometime in the next month or so I will be making my blogs all private, and you have to join blogspot, and request to follow my blog. I didn't choose this in the first place because I didn't want to deter those that might not be technologically savy from checking the blog. But I think as I approach graduation, I need to make sure this is all done before I even apply for a job. So I encourage you, if you follow the blog, to play around with the site and learn how to join and how to follow the blog, so that way when I go to private you will already be set up and won't lose access to it!

The terrible twos

Starla has such horrific tantrums. I swear, she is the worst of the 3 of my kids at throwing fits! Of course maybe it has just been so long since the boys were this age, and I don't remember it that well. I do remember Bourbon used to bang his head on the floor and pinch himself when he was mad, so I guess that's bad too, lol. But Starla is soooo loud!! And mean!!

I decided to video tape an episode. This was actually AFTER the screaming like a banshee at the top of her lungs, kicking and screaming, which is why she is in the naughty chair. My neice Karli was staying with us, and she had gone outside to play with Roman, which made Starla mad.

It lasted another 4 or 5 minutes before Starla put on a smile said "I'm sorry for throwing a fit mom" and got up and gave me a big hug. Silly girl.

Swimming, baseball, museums & watermelon!

Monday afternoon we went swimming at the Del City pool. I usually don't take the camera since I hate leaving it hanging out while I am in the pool with Starla, but I decided I needed at least some pics of us at the pool, since we go like once a week with our pool pass!! Starla has become a regular waterbaby this summer, she wants to jump in all by herself and tells me "Don't catch me!! Stay back!!" She wants to do it all by herself. The boys love the water slide and Bourbon has graduated from the low dive last summer to the high dive this summer! They are getting so big!!

Monday was the library night at the redhawks. Each year we do the summer reading program and earn prizes for reading, and they always give out free tickets to the library night redhawks game!

behind the far right field there is a grassy hill with a playground on it, so instead of even going to find our seats, we thought we would sit there for the game so that Starla had something to do and plenty of room to play!

we took a blanket and sat in the sun!

This was where Roman stood the entire time, hoping to catch a ball. He was very disappointed when he didn't get one.

On wednesday we went to the Jasmine Moran children's museum in seminole. They are a partner with the Omniplex so we actually get in free with our omniplex pass, which is awesome! This museum has so much fun stuff for the kids to do!!

The boys play court

we took a ride on the train, the boys up front, and Starla & I in the back in the covered car! It was raining...

Roman pretends to be a fireman

Starla goes shopping at the pretend store!

the bubble room is awesome!

After we left the museum, we went to my grandparents house in seminole to visit. I was in a back bedroom with my grandma helping her hang pictures on her wall, when Starla wandered into their bedroom on the other side of the house and found a pillbox and took a red pill! It ended up only being a multivitamin with iron, but we took her to the ER anyways. They said even if she ate the whole thing there wasn't enough iron in it to be toxic for her, so all was well. Sheesh. Pill popping already at the age of 2!

Roman is so creative, he made a puppet out of a picture of himself from the machines at chuck-e-cheeses!

Today we spent the afternoon at the watermelon festival in Rush Springs for my birthday!

yum! watermelon from rush springs!
