Our Christmas Eve

We let the kids exchange the gifts they had for eachother since Bourbon was leaving that night. But then he had to wait until he got home sunday to open the rest of his gifts.

We had to change up some of our traditions this year since Bourbon wasn't going to be spending Christmas with us. Usually on Christmas morning, after all the presents are open, the kids scramble to find the pickle ornament, and the one who does gets an extra gift. This year we had to do it on Christmas eve before Bourbon left. Starla found the pickle for the first time ever! :) Of course she had an unfair advantage, which Roman was not very happy about. I let our nephew Jordan hide it while they were still here visiting, and he put it dead center at the very bottom (Just Starla's height!) of the tree, and I let Starla have a 15 second head start. She went right for it before the boys even got a chance, lol. The gift was a $15 lego store gift card, so Roman was REALLY mad. I had to remind him of all the many many years he had found the pickle and how she had never found it, and how nice it was of us to let her have a year. :)

The kids get to open their Christmas eve gift........

New PJ's! (I couldn't convince Bourbon to put his on and take a pic since his dad was on his way to pick him up for the weekend) :)

Gotta enjoy cookies and hot chocolate for a bedtime snack!

We always read Christmas books on Christmas eve, ending with Daddy reading the Night Before Christmas. This year we unwrapped the book each night counting down to Christmas, so we ended that with one of Hallmarks new recordable books. Alan had recorded himself reading it, and the kids just turned the pages and listened!

Milk and cookies for Santa!

One of our fun Christmas Eve traditions is tracking Santa on the Norad tracking service online....

gotta get in bed before he's in our neck of the woods! :)
