My lil' chefs

The boys always want to help cook, so I am in the process of teaching them how and letting them choose meals that they want to cook. I hope to make them self-sufficient in the kitchen, and fully expect my future daughter-in-laws to thank me someday. :)

Even though I gave them a stack of about 5 kids cookbooks, they both picked something from this one. We are a Disney family. :)

Bourbon picked out calzones! So last week for dinner one night he made these for us!

Hard at work!

Bourbon did everything by himself except put it into and take it out of the oven!

Yum! Eveyone liked the calzones, Starla even ate 2 of them! This was one of my days that I was on a break from my diet, so I got to enjoy them too!

Roman picked out a breakfast dish; Jungle French Toast. It is a baked french toast "sandwich" with cream cheese and bananas in the middle, and cut into strips. So he made breakfast on saturday morning.

Roman begins his dish! He needed more help than Bourbon did, but he had fun!

Notice the apron Roman is wearing. It was my grandma's (My mom's mom) who passed away when Bourbon was only 9 months old. He LOVES this apron, and she made it, so it makes me smile to think he has a connection to my grandma even though he never met her.

Voila! Breakfast is served! I didn't get to eat any because of my diet, but all the kids said they were yummy! (alan was at work, and doesn't do stuff with bananas anyways....)

We love the summer!

Just thought I'd share some of the pics of the things we've been doing this past week!

On Sunday our church had a big event called Lifestock at Frontier City, and we went and played!

We watched the Bob the builder live show, and then Starla got to meet Bob! She was soo excited!

they had a blast

riding the train with daddy

on the ferris wheel

Starla is all about building "tall towers" these days, sometimes color coded, and then she likes to count all the legos.

Playing in bricktown

Bourbon spelled out Starla's name with legos.

We went to a blueberry farm in Stroud last night with some friends!

hard at work!

Yum!

Lots of berries! Think of all the things we can make with these!! :)

Isn't she a doll?

My new nephew

My nephew, Kyan Douglas Luckie Blaine, was born on friday June 12th at 3:33am. Isn't he cute?!

Less than a day old

5 days old

Roman the barbarian

So saturday Roman decided to put one of starla's little cake pans on his mouth and suction it on, causing bruising, or hickeys in essence down his lip. He looked like he got knocked around. He didn't know that it was going to happen, he just liked the play around with suctioning stuff to his mouth, silly boy.

A couple hours later, we were out back playing. I was on the deck sitting in a chair. Roman picked up Starla, put her in her swing and gave her one big push (but didn't buckle her in) and then started walking away. Starla said "Slow it down so I can get out." and Roman said "just get out." and it all happened quicker than I could do or day anything it seemed. She tried to get out, and fell fast and hard right onto her face! Blood poured out of her nose and mouth. Once Roman saw all the blood, I'm not sure who cried more, him or her! I of course ran and scooped her up and ran her inside and cleaned her up and applied ice packs. I said "I think you broke her nose!" before I even got into the house because of all the blood, so now Starla says to Roman "you broke my nose because you didn't get me out of the swing." Anyways, her nose was ok, just swollen a bit. Her lip was awful though, it was busted and black and yellow and about 3 times it's size in one place!! But we applied ice and she ate a few popsicles to keep it cold. Needless to say Roman got lectured on not putting his sister in the swing and then walking away, and telling her to get out by herself. Silly boy.

This was a few hours after it happened. Her poor nose was swollen and her lip was puffy and bruised.

This was her lip the next day

Then on monday, we were at the library, and Roman was playing with Starla as we were walking up to the counter to check out, and he hip-checked/tripped her, which caused her to go flying into a nearby table. This table just happened to be of the height where the corner caught her directly in her throat, and she hit it pretty hard. So she had a broken blood blister under her skin at her throat, not to mention just getting choked up at getting knocked in the throat by a table!! Sigh. Big brothers........

Our summer adventures

We are trying to stay busy this summer, and use all passes we have, and free stuff available to us (the free bowling is awesome!!). We are going to try to explore in our home state, pick various cities and explore for a day here and there. Little mini "staycations" if you will. :)

Here are some pics from the last week or so!

We love the zoo!! We try to go at least once a week!

Cheese!!

Aunt Kim with the birthday cake I made for her!

Starla & Aunt Kim at Suzy's house

The boys went home with Aunt Kim & Nana from Suzy's house that day to spend most of the week. They went to VBS with them, and had a blast. They came home yesterday. Starla was glad to have her brothers back!

Playing at one of the free spray parks in oklahoma city

Starla loves to read. I hear "Can you read this to me mommy" about 50 times a day, :)

Meadow & Starla enjoy some ice cream! Meadow got a new baby brother today; Kyan (Cayenne) Douglas Lucky Blaine was born at 3:33am today. He weighed 6lbs 11 ozs and was 19.7 inches long!

Daddy helps Starla bowl

Alan is so silly

Tomorrow is day 20 on my new diet, and I have over 10 lbs so far, so that's good! Alan took on another route this week and next, they are short on drivers, so he's just about doubled his work load. He had a 16 hour day on monday!! Crazy. So he's been busy. But he wants to earn some extra cash so we can take a vacation. He put in to have the last week of July off, and he wants to see about taking a cruise, just the 2 of us, so we will see.

Our Little adventures

I'm collecting college ID's, hee hee. I am taking an astronomy telecourse this summer at OCCC, which makes the 3rd college I have attended. :)

Alan got a new tattoo yesterday. It's a sugarskull praying. Who knows when he will ever be done.......

Yum, the grilling king. Not great weather for grilling, but it was yummy all the same!

The rain left big puddles in the yard that the kids had a blast in.

She wasn't too happy to have mud on her hands.

I think it must have been skins night at the Little household.... hee hee. I didn't join in.......

Tonight was free rootbeer floats at sonic! So the kids & Alan got to enjoy them! (ok, I actually ate a bit of Starla's too... :) )

So today was day 10 on my diet, and I have lost 7.6 lbs and 7.5 inches! Woo hoo. I could have lost more if I would stick to it a little better, but I keep indulging in something every other day or so, lol. But I'm not complaining!
