Little Summer adventures

The kids had been begging ever since school got out to go to the pool, so saturday was our first visit......

Starla is a little water daredevil this year and thinks she can do anything and swim by herself!

Bourbon loves to cook. Sunday morning he made the eggs and bacon while I made the pancakes! His future wife is going to love me someday.... :)

monday morning we met Melissa and her boys at a spray park in OKC that we had never been to. This one had a pirate ship theme, and was lots of fun! There are 16 community spray parks in OKC alone, not even counting the ones in MWC and Edmond and Moore, etc. We may just have to see if we can't visit them all this summer!

After the water fun we played at the adjoining park and then had a picnic!

We love our make-your-own popsicle trays! I made some yummy fruit and yogurt pops, they were good! I am gonna start making lots of homemade ice cream and frozen yogurt this summer I think....

Notice Alan just eats right out of the carton, lol

we love the pool! And since we have a family pass, we try to go as often as we can! (Notice there aren't any pics of me at the pool.....in a swimsuit...lol. Yeah, there's a reason for that!) :)

Tuesday has become our library night. Roman goes to karate across the street at the community center, so while he is there, we go to the library, and then we pick him up and let him spend some time there too.

Starla loves playing the computers at the library!

Bourbon is a book worm....just like his momma. On any given day you can find him curled up with a book, it makes me smile.

Starla found the Very Hungry Caterpillar on the shelf, and had to take it down and read it....

oh the fun of summer.....

Our water filled week....

Tuesday morning was our first summer movie, Charlotte's Web. We met our wonderful friends Kristal, Ari & Noah there!

After the movie we walked on the canal to the spray pad....

Baby ducks!

But it wasn't on yet, so we left....

and we went to the spray park instead.....

Wednesday we hooked up our new sprinkler, a giant beach ball that squirts water everywhere and played with it!

yum, popsicles!

Bourbon came home from his dads thursday morning, it was nice to have him back, he was gona almost a week!!

We love the spray park! It's close, it's free and it's fun! Thursday we went there to play for a bit....

Bourbon's friend Stew went with us, but of course they were much too cool to play in the water, they hung out at the park for a bit then sat in the shade on a bench for the rest of the time....

Starla found a mud hole that she had more fun playing in than the water....

Then we went bowling. I love how Starla celebrates before the ball even reaches the pins! Hee hee....

scores for the first game....

Scores for the 2nd game....

it was lots of fun!

After that we came home and made cucpakes, but I'm making that a whole new blog...instead of one big blog I'm making 3 smaller ones. I feel more productive that way, lol

Rainbow-licious!

Starla wanted to make cupcakes, and when I asked her what color we should make, she said Rainbow-licious! :)

I hope to pass on my love of baking to all of my kiddos, the boys usually like to help, but on this day they were much to busy with video games to be bothered with cupcakes... :)

We started with a french vanilla cake mix and regular white frosting and just colored it. It would have been so much easier if I had liquid food coloring, we could have just added a drop of each to the batter inside the cupcake pans and swirled it around, but all I own is the gel frosting colorings, so we just put 4 small amounts of the batter into bowls and made them each a color. Then we put about 1/2 the amount needed of regular vanilla batter into the cupcake pan, and then put a dallop of each of the colored batter into them....

now we swirl the batter around a little....

here they are baked, still sooo pretty!

we had to make the frosting Starla's 3 favorite colors too; pink, purple & yellow!

she's ready to dig in!

yum!

Down at the farm

Roman likes hanging out with the goats. Bourbon was too cool to come into the goat pen.....

Stuffed animals meet real animals....

hanging out in the coop.....

new baby chickens (well more like toddlers, not quite baby, lol)!

Teddy meet chickens....chickens meet teddy....

Roman & Karen check to see if there are any eggs...

Starla loves holding the eggs!
